Former York City player-manager Chris Brass has been sacked as coach at Scunthorpe United.

The 37-year-old had been assistant to former boss Alan Knill until he was dismissed in early November. He was replaced by Brian Laws, who subsequently brought in Russ Wilcox to work alongside him.

Brass had previously been Knill's assistant at Bury and his latest departure was put down to cost-cutting measures by the struggling League One outfit.

The former Burnley skipper leaves Glanford Park with immediate effect.
