Manager sacked after York loss

Bristol Rovers have sacked manage Mark McGhee immediately following their 4-1 defeat at York City.

"We decided we had to act now before it was too late" - Bristol Rovers FC
The struggling Pirates currently find themselves second bottom of the table following a dismal run of nine losses in their last eleven games.

McGhee, 55, was originally appointed to succeed Paul Buckle in the role in January and led them to a thirteenth place finish last season after previous service with Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton.

"We have decided that we can no longer continue with the current situation and had to make the difficult decision to part company with Mark," read a club statement released on Rovers' official website. "We decided we had to act now before it was too late."
