Midfield ace Patrick McLaughlin should be fit and available to lead York City's challenge against league pacesetters Gillingham this weekend.

"Our major doubt is Ashley Chambers with his groin" - Gary Mills
The Northern Ireland Under-21 international was carried off just before half-time of the 4-1 hammering of Bristol Rovers last week after suffering a bruised lung and kidney in a crunching collision with Rovers' Dan Woodards.

Meanwhile, central defender Chris Doig should also recover after hobbling out of the same game with an ankle injury, which means latest debutant Tom Allan will probably once again be on the bench.

But forward Ashley Chambers is currently struggling with a groin problem and rated doubtful after scoring twice against Rovers last week to take his overall tally for the season to eight.

"He {McLaughlin] hasn't trained all week but he should be okay," manager Gary Mills assured The Press. "Fingers crossed he will be okay for tomorrow.

"Chris Doig is also fine and trained yesterday," Mills continued. "Our major doubt is Ashley Chambers with his groin. He's the one at this moment in time that looks very doubtful."
