York City's players could find themselves training on Christmas Day after seeing their weekend clash with leaders Gillingham washed out by the bad weather.

"I have got to get the amount of training right over Christmas for us to be ready for Boxing Day" - Gary Mills
The Minstermen were due to be enjoying the festivities at home with their families but preparations for their Boxing Day visit to Chesterfield have since been disrupted by the blank weekend.

"I have got to get the amount of training right over Christmas for us to be ready for Boxing Day," Mills told The Press. "Whether that means coming in on Christmas Day, it is about us being ready for Boxing Day.

"We had worked out a schedule for when we were going to train and fortunately we had the 3G pitch on Saturday," he added. "We will train again today but we don't know what the weather is going to be like or whether we can get the 3G pitch and we will have to wait and see. It is all a bit disruptive."

Audio: Fear was big factor - McNamara

Manager Jackie McNamara felt that fear and a lack of confidence were major factors behind York City's latest 4-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers.

No pride before ultimate fall

York City slumped embarrassingly to the bottom of the table following a dreadful 4-1 home defeat to Bristol Rovers in what will probably be the last-ever Football League fixture at Bootham Crescent.

Billy Bodin scored a goal in each half and Jermaine Easter added another before a lone 81st minute reply from substitute Kenny McEvoy; although there was still enough time remaining for Lee Mansell to give the scoreline a more realistic look.
