Anxious wait for City

York City are hoping that goalscorer Jason Walker will recover in time to face Exeter City at the weekend.

"He started to feel really weak and ill during the first half so he came off at half-time" - Gary Mills
The 27-year-old converted an early penalty and then provided the corner for Patrick McLaughlin to add to their lead during yesterday's comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Burton Albion at Bootham Crescent.

However, Walker had to be replaced by striker Jamie Reed at the break after complaining of feeling unwell during the game.

"He started to feel really weak and ill during the first half so he came off at half-time but we're hoping it's not anything too bad," manager Gary Mills told The Press. "I also thought Reedy came on and held the ball up well in the second half."

Walker had been specially assigned on corner duties for the Minstermen, who have continued to suffer from poor deliveries for much of the season.

"We've not scored too many from corners and we've always known Jason's quality from dead-ball situations," Mills continued. "We see it in training all the time and first thought about him taking them a couple of weeks ago. We felt the time was right and he put an unbelievable ball in for the second goal."
