Former City ace enters Lions' Den

Former York City winger Martyn Woolford has completed a move to Championship promotion-chasers Millwall for an undisclosed fee.

"Hopefully the fans will forgive me for that play-off goal" - Martyn Woolford
The talented 27-year has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the South London club after already scoring three times in seventeen appearances for relegation-threatened Bristol City this season.

"I knew there might be some interest from Millwall just before that New Year's Day game, but it has all happened very quickly," Woolford told Millwall's official website. "I absolutely delighted to coming here at an exciting time for this club. Hopefully the fans will forgive me for that play-off goal, I'll be trying to make it up to them!"

Woolford first began to build his reputation with York as a fast-raiding, goalscoring left-sided forward following his arrival from Frickley Athletic for an undisclosed five-figure fee in September 2006. He went on to register 23 times in less than a hundred appearances for the Minstermen while in the process earning himself a couple of England 'C' caps.

That in turn brought him a rise into the Football League with Scunthorpe United a couple of years later, where he famously scored their winning goal in a 3-2 play-off final victory against Millwall at Wembley in 2009.

The Pontefract-born winger later moved on to Bristol City and proceeded to total 59 appearances and score four goals for the Robins.
