Midfield ace coming back

York City midfielder John McReady is understandably keen to end six months of frustration since arriving at Bootham Crescent.

"Hopefully, I will be injury free from now on" - John McReady
The 20-year-old was already regarded as a really hot-prospect when being recruited from Darlington over the summer, but has in turn found himself limited to just three substitute appearances after experiencing a dislocated shoulder against latest opponents Cheltenham Town back in September.

However, McReady successfully made his comeback from a subsequent operation in midweek and promptly scored twice as the Minstermen easily accounted for Northallerton Town 3-0 in their North Riding Senior Cup quarter-final.

"It's been frustrating and I've not had much luck since signing for the club," McReady admitted to The Press. "I was ill when I first came here and was just about getting back to full fitness and then I did my shoulder so, hopefully, I will be injury free from now on.

"Tuesday's game was a huge help, though, in terms of my match fitness," he added. "I've also fallen on the shoulder a few times now and it`s felt all right. But the operation has been done now and it's back to full strength so, hopefully, it won't happen again."
