York City centre-back David McGurk is expected to recover in time for their weekend meeting with Aldershot Town at Bootham Crescent.

"He got spasms from his neck right down his back and was in a neck brace" - Gary Mills
The 30-year-old was carried off after suffering a neck injury during the hard-earned 1-1 draw at Cheltenham Town on Saturday - only his fourth game since returning from an extended twelve-month absence.

"He got spasms from his neck right down his back and was in a neck brace after he came off but we think he will be okay for next week," manager Gary Mills told The Press.

But York will definitely be without winger Alex Rodman, who missed out at the weekend due to a hamstring problem but is ineligible anyway to face his parent club.

Meanwhile, Mills paid special tribute to goalkeeper Michael Ingham following a crucial injury-time double-save at Whaddon Road, and also took time to praise the attitude of transfer-listed substitute Jamie Reed.

"Inghy's double save was magnificent," he continued. "He picked up a lot of pace to get across those two or three yards to make the second one and that's superb.

"Reedy might want to move on but I brought him on and he did a professional job and did well for us," the City boss added.
