York City have made their first signing during the January transfer window by recruiting 25-year-old striker Ben Everson.

"I have signed him for the right reasons because he looks a very good player" - Gary Mills
Everson, who hails from Middlesbrough, has been training with the club for the past month and previously represented West Texas A&M University in America as well as both Tindastoll and Breidablik over in Iceland.

He arrives until the end of the season subject to international clearance and the club are hopeful he will be available to face Aldershot Town this weekend.

"Ben is someone I've had for three or four weeks now and he's done extremely well," manager Gary Mills told York's official website. "I've liked what I've seen so I've given him a contract until the end of the season. I have signed him for the right reasons because he looks a very good player."

The Minstermen are currently desperately short of attacking options with Ashley Chambers, Michael Coulson, Oli Johnson and Alex Rodman suffering with injuries and Jamie Reed recently transfer-listed.
