York City are continuing to seriously miss joint-top scorer Ashley Chambers according to manager Gary Mills.

"He's a big player for us and we lost him at a time when he was doing well" - Gary Mills
The Minstermen failed to find a way past the Aldershot Town rearguard at the weekend as they fired a third blank in six games since Chambers suffered a stomach injury after scoring twice in a 4-1 victory against Bristol Rovers in mid-December.

New signing Ben Everson was given a second-half debut from the bench but Mills is also currently without Michael Coulson, Oli Johnson and Alex Rodman as attacking options.

Meanwhile, Chambers, 22, who has scored eight times so far this season, was expected to remain on the sidelines for around another month, leaving his manager to continue to search for reinforcements from elsewhere.

"It would be nice to get Ash back because we are missing him," Mills admitted to The Press. "He's a big player for us and we lost him at a time when he was doing well.

"We are lacking wide strikers and that has affected us over the last few weeks. We're missing Ash and Michael Coulson, and Oli Johnson hasn't played a lot either," he continued. "Alex Rodman also went down a couple of weeks ago and wasn't available against Aldershot so we're missing important players but still picking up points. I'm still trying to strengthen in that area and looking at a couple of options so, hopefully, we can do something."

Harrogate Town 2 York City 0

York City went down to a sobering 2-0 defeat to National League North leaders Harrogate Town at the CNG Stadium.

The Minstermen were soon in arrears to their neighbours after goalkeeper Jon Worsnop brought down Jordan Thewlis and Joe Leesley converted the penalty.

Their task became even more difficult early in the second-half, Liam Agnew's effort taking a big deflection past Worsnop. Skipper Sean Newton later struck an upright but a recovery never appeared likely.
