Mills optimistic after latest show

York City boss Gary Mills was remaining particularly optimistic having seen his side claim their thirteenth draw of the season at promotion-chasing Gillingham.

"I have nothing but praise for them from start to finish today" - Gary Mills
The Minstermen actually threatened to come away with maximum points following Charlie Lee's nineteenth-minute own-goal until home substitute Cody McDonald snatched a late equaliser with just five minutes remaining.

"It's a difficult place to come but I have nothing but praise for them from start to finish today," Mills told BBC Radio York. "We know when you come to Gillingham you've got to defend long throws and I thought we dealt with that well, and then when we got the ball I thought we opened them up a few times and passed the ball as well as I'd like.

"I keep saying, especially if we play like that, we need to put a run of wins together to just help us climb that table a little bit - but if we play like that it'll come, it's got to come," he added.

The visitors remain in fifteenth place in the table but still only six points outside the play-offs.
