Dan's the man in a crisis

The ever-willing Daniel Parslow gave an "outstanding" display whilst cast in an unfamiliar left-back role at Gillingham, according to York City manager Gary Mills.

"I played him there because he's Dan Parslow and I know what I will get from him" - Gary Mills
The 27-year-old has already appeared at centre-back, right-back, central midfield and even as a late emergency striker under Mills' leadership, but was this time pressed into service on the left side of defence following an ankle injury in training for regular Jamal Fyfield.

The Minstermen were actually forced to change half of their back-four at the Priestfield Stadium with on loan Blackburn Rovers teenager Jack O'Connell replacing luckless hamstring-victim David McGurk.

"Dan Parslow was outstanding at left-back," Mills told The Press. "I played him there because he's Dan Parslow and I know what I will get from him. His left foot is all right as well and he's got that bit of pace.

"I played left-back despite being right-footed and liked it. It can help you read the game better," he added. "I could have put Jack there, but he wants to be a centre-half. He did well next to Smudge and it's not easy because he's not had a lot of time with us."
