York City have been hit by another serious injury blow with right-back Lanre Oyebanjo being ruled out for around six weeks after suffering a fractured skull.

"He looked like he was going to collapse" - Gary Mills
The 22-year-old London-born defender was involved in a dreadful clash of heads with Gillingham's Charlie Lee in the 71st minute of their 1-1 weekend draw at the Priestfield Stadium.

A typically courageous Oyebanjo still managed to play on for another ten minutes but after continuing to feel unwell and with blood seeping from his ear, he was withdrawn and later taken to hospital, where the fracture was discovered.

"It's another defender down for us and obviously with a fractured skull he has got to be careful," manager Gary Mills told The Press. "He played on for quite a while, headed a few balls, but he started getting bleeding from his ear.

"He came off and later went to the hospital," he continued. "He's a strong lad, he competes well and he said he didn't want to come off. Once he did come off, once his ear started bleeding, he looked like he was going to collapse."

Audio: Fear was big factor - McNamara

Manager Jackie McNamara felt that fear and a lack of confidence were major factors behind York City's latest 4-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers.

No pride before ultimate fall

York City slumped embarrassingly to the bottom of the table following a dreadful 4-1 home defeat to Bristol Rovers in what will probably be the last-ever Football League fixture at Bootham Crescent.

Billy Bodin scored a goal in each half and Jermaine Easter added another before a lone 81st minute reply from substitute Kenny McEvoy; although there was still enough time remaining for Lee Mansell to give the scoreline a more realistic look.
