We must tighten up - Obeng

On loan full-back Curtis Obeng felt the heavy margin of defeat to Morecambe at the weekend was totally unfair on his new side.

"We needed to be tighter at the back and more clinical up top" - Curtis Obeng
The visitors scored three times during the later stages of the contest to eventually run-out as comprehensive 4-1 winners at Bootham Crescent.

But Obeng, 23, who only joined York last week on a month's loan from Premier League Swansea City, reckoned the eventual outcome certainly flattered their opponents.

"We were quite unlucky in that the result did not reflect the game," he told The Press. "We did really well for three-quarters of the match and had the majority of the ball. We just couldn't get it in the back of the net.

"Chances are few and far between at this level and you've just got to try to put them in because, if you don't, the opposition get their opportunities and can punish you," Obeng added. "But we also know you can't concede four goals in a game like we did. We needed to be tighter at the back and more clinical up top."

Harrogate Town 2 York City 0

York City went down to a sobering 2-0 defeat to National League North leaders Harrogate Town at the CNG Stadium.

The Minstermen were soon in arrears to their neighbours after goalkeeper Jon Worsnop brought down Jordan Thewlis and Joe Leesley converted the penalty.

Their task became even more difficult early in the second-half, Liam Agnew's effort taking a big deflection past Worsnop. Skipper Sean Newton later struck an upright but a recovery never appeared likely.
