Former York City defender James Meredith could still have an outside chance of another Wembley date later this month.

The 25-year-old Australian-born Bradford City full-back is hoping to return to training next week as he continues to recover from a recent bout of glandular fever.

Bradford manager Phil Parkinson had earlier believed Meredith could miss the rest of the season after failing to appear since a 0-0 draw with Morecambe on New Year's Day.

"I'm hoping to get the all clear from the doctor on Monday," Meredith told BBC Radio Leeds "I was in an absolute state. I couldn't walk, I was rambling and I was struggling to speak and see.

"I was sleeping 15 hours a day and even though I'm better now I still need the physio to call me in the morning because my alarm clock doesn't wake me up," he added. "Hopefully I can be back next week and then I'll build from there."

The Bantams take on Swansea City in the Capital One League Cup final on Sunday 24th February.
