Minstermen take measured approach

York City are likely to be adopting a cautious policy following the re-opening of the loan window according to assistant manager Darron Gee.

"It comes down to whether they are going to roll their sleeves up and get on with things" - Darron Gee
The Minstermen were certainly very busy during the recent January window bringing in as many as five players to Bootham Crescent. Defenders Jack O'Connell, Jameel Ible and Curtis Obeng, together with strikers Ben Everson and David McDaid, all arrived to increase their selection options.

However, Gee revealed that was still perhaps a couple of players short of their original target despite the expanding nature of the squad.

"We would have liked to have brought a couple more players in permanently before the window closed but we can bring loan players in now," Gee told The Press. "You have to be careful with loan players at this stage of the season though.

"They have to come in and embrace what we are trying to do and it's not just about their ability but their mental strength as well," he added. "It comes down to whether they are going to roll their sleeves up and get on with things in the same manner as the other players."

York are already regularly being linked with midfielders John McGrath, 32, of Burton Albion and former Manchester United trainee Ritchie Jones, 26, recently released by Bradford City.
