'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We will come through it - Mills

York City manager Gary Mills has told his players to stick together in order to get the club out of their current predicament.

"It's a testing time for me as manager but I am going to come through it" - Gary Mills
The Minstermen conceded four goals for the second successive weekend while crashing 4-0 at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. It means they are now without a victory in their last six matches and have won just three times in nineteen games in all competitions since the end of October.

All that leaves them currently trailing down in eighteenth position in the table and seven points clear of the drop-zone - albeit having played a game more than each of the bottom two.

"We are going through a bad spell but you have to live with that," Mills told The Press. "I believe I have a dressing room of players that will work hard to get us out of this mess and I have to pick the right team. The last two results suggest that maybe I haven't.

"But players have to take responsibility because I rely on them for my job," he continued. "I enjoy my job and I don't pick teams to lose games. It's a testing time and testing for me as manager, but I am going to come through it."

York next entertain former leaders Gillingham tomorrow evening before then hosting lowly Barnet in what is starting to look an increasingly important game at the weekend.

However, Mills' side have already taken four points against the pair on their travels this season and at this stage would probably almost certainly accept a repeat of that as they look to move back up the table.
