Mills urges calm

York City boss Gary Mills has urged calm ahead of a couple of crucial games at Bootham Crescent.

"When I went over to clap the fans on Saturday, one supporter stuck two fingers up at me" - Gary Mills
This evening the Minstermen entertain title-chasing Gillingham before relegation-threatened Barnet arrive in a traditional 'six-pointer' at the weekend.

Following their heavy 4-0 weekend defeat at Wycombe Wanderers, struggling York are without a win in six games and currently seven points clear of the drop-zone - although each of the bottom two have a game in hand.

"We've lost a couple of matches but we're not bottom of the League. We are seven points above the relegation zone," Mills told The Press. "People have got to calm down a little bit. If we pick up three points tonight, we will be close to the top half of the table. We could move up four places and be ten points clear of the bottom two if we beat Gillingham."

Mills also assured that there was no chance of him walking away from the challenge despite seemingly increased dissatisfaction from a section of the support in light of recent performances.

"When I went over to clap the fans on Saturday, one supporter stuck two fingers up at me and told me what that meant but I won't be doing that," he promised.
