Davids foresees tough spectacle

Dutch maestro Edgar Davids was expecting a tough challenge when his Barnet side face York City at Bootham Crescent this weekend.

"York are a tough team and you know they are going to dig in" - Edgar Davids
Both clubs are understandably keen for points in order to pull further away from the lower reaches of the table but the hosts haven't won in seven games and their visitors are without a victory in three.

However, a definite warning for York comes in the fact that the Bees have already taken maximum points from not only second-placed Gillingham this season, but also fellow promotion hopefuls Rotherham United and Chesterfield.

"York are a tough team and you know they are going to dig in and try and get a positive result," Davids told the Barnet and Potters Bar Times. "So it is going to be a tough match and I've said before, every game is a final for us. With Barnet you never know what to expect but we will do our best and hopefully we can continue to play our football."

Davids was certainly busy in the market on Friday when completing the initial one-month loan signings of Stevenage duo Bondz N'Gala and Dani Lopez, while giving a short-term contract to Chiro N'Toko.

Former West Ham United defender N'Gala, 23, made nineteen appearances for Boro after arriving on a free transfer in the summer and striker Lopez, 29, netted six times in a dozen games on loan at Aldershot Town earlier this season.

Meanwhile, Democratic Republic of Congo-born defender N'Toko, 25, has joined the North London side until the end of the campaign and includes previous spells in the Netherlands with AGOVV and ADO Den Haag.

Good game and decent teams - Penney

York City assistant manager Dave Penney believes it was a case of a couple of well-matched teams following the 2-2 draw with Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent.

Both sides were denied a sixth consecutive victory as York City twice led against promotion rivals Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent.

On loan defender Jonny Burn's third goal in nine games earned them a half-time lead that was cancelled out by Ryan Hall soon after the restart.

But Aidan Connolly restored the home advantage with seventeen minutes remaining, although that was swiftly matched by Andrew Johnson as the honours were eventually shared.
