Worthington relishing City challenge

Manager Nigel Worthington says he is relishing the challenge of keeping York City in the Football League.

"If you're a football person you adapt to the situation and deal with it as best as you can" - Nigel Worthington
The former Northern Ireland boss is still awaiting his first win in charge since replacing Gary Mills at Bootham Crescent three games ago.

But the 51-year-old is certainly enjoying the opportunity despite seeing his new club slide into the relegation zone earlier this week.

"Nothing has surprised me since I've been here at all," Worthington told Sky Sports. "In football, whether it's with Northern Ireland, in the Premier League with Norwich, York or where ever, if you're a football person you adapt to the situation and deal with it as best as you can.

"I'm thoroughly enjoying working at this football club and with the players," he continued. "We can't look to other teams to help us out, we've got to look after ourselves. It's all about performing in matches and getting results and if we can start doing that we'll be okay."
