New striker Shaquille McDonald will go straight into the York City squad for their home game with Dagenham & Redbridge on 4th January.

"He will go straight into the squad because he has got that blistering pace we want to utilise" - Nigel Worthington
The eighteen-year-old marksman who labels himself as the 'Goal Machine' on his own social media website has arrived
after being released by Peterborough United in November.

McDonald was recently recommended to York boss Nigel Worthington by Posh's Director of Football Barry Fry and joins
the Minstermen until the end of the season.

The former Chasetown forward has already proved himself to be a really prolific goalscorer at youth and reserve team level at Peterborough and has also had recent loans with Histon and Chester.

"He will go straight into the squad because he has got that blistering pace we want to utilise," York manager Worthington told The Press. "We had him with us for a few days prior to Christmas to have a look at him and myself and the chairman have decided to offer him a contract until the end of the season.

"We want to give him a chance because he had shown bits and pieces in training and that's also allowed him to get used to the environment here and the rest of the players," he added. "He now needs time to adjust to show what he can do."
