More worries for Worthington

More concerns for Nigel Worthington as York City extended their winless run to eleven games following a 2-1 defeat at struggling Bury.

"You can not start a game like we started today because you're automatically on the back foot" - Nigel Worthington
A dreadful first-half performance left the visitors trailing by two goals at the break and with too much to do despite substitute Michael Coulson's 73rd minute reply.

The Minstermen have won just four times in twenty-seven games in all competitions this season but were still backed by an outstanding 1,642 travelling supporters in two successive away fixtures over Christmas. Indeed only another home defeat for Torquay United leaves them currently escaping the bottom two in the table.

"The first half is one to forget about," Worthington told BBC Radio York. "You're on your back foot and there's quite a few who had a bad day at the office in the first 45 minutes.

"The second half you're looking for character, you're looking for strength and to be fair to them over the course of the half, I thought we had a real go at them; we created chances," he added. "We got the goal but in any game, no matter what league you're in, you can not start a game like we started today because you're automatically on the back foot."

York now have successive home games against Morecambe and Dagenham & Redbridge over the next week, when there will simply have to be some serious signs of improvement in evidence.
