York City boss Nigel Worthington is pleased to get midfielder Adam Reed into the club at the second time of asking.

"We are giving him another opportunity to get his career up and running at this football club" - Nigel Worthington
The 22-year-old has arrived until the end of the season after previously choosing Burton Albion ahead of the Minstermen following his release from Sunderland last summer.

Hartlepool-born Reed scored twice during a short-term loan spell at Bootham Crescent prior to that but hasn't experienced similar success with the Brewers this time around.

"We are pleased to get Adam in," Worthington told The Press. "I spoke to him in the summer and was a bit disappointed when he went to Burton. It hasn't worked out for him there so we are giving him another opportunity to get his career up and running at this football club.

"Hopefully, he can do as good a job as he did for us last season although he hasn't played many games recently and might need to get up to speed with his match fitness."

Harrogate Town 2 York City 0

York City went down to a sobering 2-0 defeat to National League North leaders Harrogate Town at the CNG Stadium.

The Minstermen were soon in arrears to their neighbours after goalkeeper Jon Worsnop brought down Jordan Thewlis and Joe Leesley converted the penalty.

Their task became even more difficult early in the second-half, Liam Agnew's effort taking a big deflection past Worsnop. Skipper Sean Newton later struck an upright but a recovery never appeared likely.
