Tributes have been paid to a Northampton Town supporter who sadly collapsed and died following the weekend game with York City.

"Sincerest condolences from York City to everyone connected with NTFC and especially the supporter's family at this difficult time" - York City FC
David Henderson, 57, suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his car outside the Sixfields Stadium with nine-year-old son, Alex, in the back of the vehicle.

A St John's Ambulance volunteer and two off-duty policeman helped Mr Henderson out of his car and attempted to resuscitate him. But he died shortly after being taken to Northampton General Hospital.

"We are deeply saddened to report that a supporter passed away shortly after today's game," commented Northampton Town FC. "Our sincerest condolences are extended to the family involved.

"We would like to offer our thanks and praise to our stewards, the St Johns Ambulance staff, the paramedics and the police who assisted."

"Sincerest condolences from York City to everyone connected with NTFC and especially the supporter's family at this difficult time," responded the visitors.

Meanwhile, there were numerous messages of condolences from supporters of both clubs and further afield.

Mr Henderson is survived by his wife, Amanda, three children and grandchildren.
