Newcomer Will Hayhurst is relishing the opportunity of linking up with his fellow Preston North End loanee Ben Davies at York City.

"We played for the youth team together and were in the same digs for a year" - Will Hayhurst
The nineteen-year-old winger made his debut as an early second-half substitute in the disappointing midweek defeat to current leaders Chesterfield after arriving on a month's loan from Deepdale.

Meanwhile. Davies has been a virtual-ever present this season with 29 appearances since joining the Minstermen in the summer.

"Ben told me all about York and he has helped me settle in," Hayhurst told The Press. "We have both been at Preston since we were kids. We played for the youth team together and were in the same digs for a year so I've been following his progress at York and waiting for him to score but that hasn't happened yet.

'We know how each other plays and how we work together," he added. "We are really close on and off the field, so we will give everything for each other and it's quite exciting to link up again."

York City appear to be left scrapping for a play-off place at best following a rather flattering 3-2 defeat at promotion rivals Salford City.

Skipper Liam Hogan - who scored for the hosts in the FA Cup meeting between the two clubs five weeks ago - netted in each half and either side of Jack Redshaw's long overdue strike.

Late replies from substitutes Louis Almond and Aidan Connolly simply masked another seriously inept performance from their opponents.
