York City striker Ryan Jarvis admits to still getting up to speed following an injury-plagued start to 2014.

"It's hard to regain your fitness but I will get there" - Ryan Jarvis
The 27-year-old has recently returned to action after being sidelined for almost a month by ankle trouble. Jarvis has appeared as a substitute in both of the Minstermen's last couple of games and is naturally keen to get back to add to his current nine goals for the season - the
most recent of which was the winner against Morecambe on New Year's Day.

"It was good to get more minutes on Saturday," the former England youth international told The Press. "I was blowing a bit when I was up there on my own but I am slowly getting my fitness back.

"I had knee, hamstring and ankle injuries one after the other. The ankle was the worst, though, because I wasn't able to run, so I couldn't do anything for three weeks other than biking, which was frustrating," he continued. "It's hard to regain your fitness but I will get there and I will keep working on it through this week to get back up and running soon."

Harrogate Town 2 York City 0

York City went down to a sobering 2-0 defeat to National League North leaders Harrogate Town at the CNG Stadium.

The Minstermen were soon in arrears to their neighbours after goalkeeper Jon Worsnop brought down Jordan Thewlis and Joe Leesley converted the penalty.

Their task became even more difficult early in the second-half, Liam Agnew's effort taking a big deflection past Worsnop. Skipper Sean Newton later struck an upright but a recovery never appeared likely.
