York City manager Nigel Worthington described it as a "job well done" as his side extended their wonderful winning sequence to six games.

"We limited them and did our job well" - Nigel Worthington
On loan winger Will Hayhurst grabbed his first senior goal with a deflected eleventh-minute effort as the hosts inflicted more misery on a determined Torquay United side.

The Minstermen are now back in the play-offs and a couple points clear of both Southend United and Plymouth Argyle.

"I thought we started the game off very well," Worthington told BBC Radio York. "The first 25 minutes we got the goal which is obviously key. Then the last 20 minutes of the first half I thought we got a bit untidy with our play.

"Another goal would have been nice to kill the game off, but I thought we managed the game very well," he added. "We limited them and did our job well."
