York City winger Josh Carson is expected to be ruled out for around nine months with cruciate knee ligament damage.

"It is sad to lose both Josh and Wes at this stage of the season" - Nigel Worthington
The Northern Ireland international
suffered the problem during the recent
1-0 victory at Portsmouth. He has also torn his cartilage.

York similarly lost their thirteen-goal top scorer Wes Fletcher in the same game with a medial ligament injury, although it is hoped he will be available for pre-season.

"It is sad to lose both Josh and Wes at this stage of the season," manager Nigel Worthington told The Press. "But they will remain a big part of our group in and around the club while they complete their comebacks from injury."

Worthington has since brought in Middlesbrough winger Ryan Brobbel and former Mansfield Town striker Calvin Andrew until the end of the season.
