Mixed weekend for City Ladies

It was a disappointing weekend for York City Ladies with a 2-1 defeat at Whitley Bay in their final league fixture of the season.

Nikki Brown scored their consolation as the visitors remain second in the table, although all their leading rivals have games in hand.

Better news for their reserves though after winning 3-1 at Guisborough Town. Louise Ross (2) and the recovered Chantel Padgham helped increase the visitors' overall goal-difference to a glorious century, while Jess Barnes was named as player of the game.

With one more fixture remaining at home to neighbours York RI Ladies this coming weekend, City are now guaranteed at least second place in the table. Leaders Redcar Town remain three points clear.

York City Ladies Reserves: Jenna Strain, Carol Thompson, Sophie Whibley, Margot Widdup, Helen Dalby, Jamie-Lee Dixon, Chantel Padgham, Jess Barnes, Kira Robinson, Louise Ross, Hollie Smith

subs: Jodie Curry, Rachel Harding
