Michael Coulson was expected to remain on penalties after converting his first-ever spot-kick against Accrington Stanley last time out.

"The only penalty I have taken before was the one at Doncaster and I don't want to talk about that" - Michael Coulson
The 26-year-old's only previous career attempt had been when missing on his debut for the Minstermen at Doncaster Rovers in a dramatic Capital One Cup penalty shoot-out in August 2012. He had earlier produced a glorious finish into the top corner to earn the visitors the lead.

"I took a few practice penalties on Friday in training because I knew Calvin (Andrew) was playing up front instead of Bowey (Ryan Bowman) and I was happy to step up if we got one," Coulson recounted to The Press. "The only penalty I have taken before was the one at Doncaster and I don't want to talk about that but I think it is important for takers to practice penalties during the days before a game just to get a feeling for it and to settle on which way you want to go.

"I made my mind up on Friday that I would put a penalty where I did because I feel you need to be certain about that," he added. "I would feel confident enough to carry on taking them too if required."

A revitalised Coulson has actually scored four times in his last nine appearances and currently totals five for the season.

Substitute Amari Morgan-Smith's excellent finish at least offered the visitors some hope with fourteen minutes remaining, but their long overdue late surge failed to discover an equaliser despite hitting the woodwo
