Defenders dominate awards
Defender Lanre Oyebanjo was named as 'Clubman of the Year' at the York City Awards Night at York Racecourse on Monday evening.
The 24-year-old former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international took the prestigious 'Billy Fenton Memorial Trophy' and was also selected by his fellow professionals as 'Players' Player Of The Year'. Added to those was the 'Harrogate Minstermen Player of the Season' silverware.
Meanwhile, on loan eighteen-year-old Preston North End full-back Ben Davies was voted 'Young Player of the Season' after being a virtual ever-present in the side with 47 appearances.
Striker Wes Fletcher also claimed himself a couple of awards, with his diving header in the 4-2 thrashing of Portsmouth in September being credited as 'Goal of the Season' while also collecting the 'Top Goalscorer' accolade.
Fellow forward Michael Coulson's play-off clinching free-kick against Newport County earned the 'Most Outstanding Moment'.
BBC Look North's Harry Gration was Master of Ceremonies and further awards went to Tom Allan (Community Award) while Keith Lowe struck another double (York Press Player of the Year/East Riding Minstermen Player of the Year).
