Estonian international winger Sander Puri has left York City after the club declined on taking up the option of a one-year extension.

RELEASED:
TOM ALLAN
CALVIN ANDREW
CHRIS DICKINSON
SANDER PURI
ADAM REED
SHAQUILLE MCDONALD
The 26-year-old was heralded as a key arrival when joining the Minstermen last June but experienced a really frustrating time at Bootham Crescent.

Puri suffered a hamstring injury in only
his second game for the club and was restricted to eleven appearances in total, including just five starts.

He has already been capped 55 times and scored three goals for his country and should be involved against England in a European Championship qualifier later this year.

The Minstermen have also released Calvin Andrew, Adam Reed, Tom Allan, Chris Dickinson and Shaquille McDonald while offering fresh terms to Michael Coulson and 'Clubman of the Year' Lanre Oyebanjo.

Andrew scored once in ten games having earlier been freed by Mansfield Town, and Reed appeared 21 times after signing a short-term deal from Burton Albion in January. City incredibly lost only two of Reed's total of 27 games in two separate spells with the club.

York-born centre-back Allan featured only half-a-dozen times last term, with fellow teenager Dickinson managing a couple of substitute appearances from the bench.

Former Peterborough United striker McDonald never even made the first-team having also come in on a short-term arrangement.

Adam Reed lost only twice in 27 appearances for York

Harrogate Town 2 York City 0

York City went down to a sobering 2-0 defeat to National League North leaders Harrogate Town at the CNG Stadium.

The Minstermen were soon in arrears to their neighbours after goalkeeper Jon Worsnop brought down Jordan Thewlis and Joe Leesley converted the penalty.

Their task became even more difficult early in the second-half, Liam Agnew's effort taking a big deflection past Worsnop. Skipper Sean Newton later struck an upright but a recovery never appeared likely.
