Nigel Worthington believes his collection of new recruits should add plenty to York City this season.

"In Marvin and Femi you have two very, very good full-backs" - Nigel Worthington
Worthington has already been very active in the transfer market this summer with five newcomers coming into the club and the promise of two or three more to follow.

A trio of arrivals at the back witnesses towering goalkeeper Jason Mooney being joined by the new full-back pairing of Marvin McCoy and Femi Ilesanmi, while dashing winger Anthony Straker has been brought in on the left to support latest goalscoring hope Jake Hyde.

"In Marvin and Femi you have two very, very good full-backs, who have got league experience and will add to us," Worthington told The Press. "To also bring Anthony in, with that pace and direct style of play, to go and get defenders and hopefully score goals, will be another addition to the team and the group of players.

"With Jake coming into the club, he has scored goals in the Football League and scored a lot of goals in the Conference," he added. "It's a case of coming in and doing what he does best."

Good game and decent teams - Penney

York City assistant manager Dave Penney believes it was a case of a couple of well-matched teams following the 2-2 draw with Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent.

York City 2 Spennymoor Town 2

Both sides were denied a sixth consecutive victory as York City twice led against promotion rivals Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent.

On loan defender Jonny Burn's third goal in nine games earned them a half-time lead that was cancelled out by Ryan Hall soon after the restart.

But Aidan Connolly restored the home advantage with seventeen minutes remaining, although that was swiftly matched by Andrew Johnson as the honours were eventually shared.
