York City chairman Jason McGill believes the recent signing of long-time target Jake Hyde clearly indicates his club mean business again this season.

"Jake has been a target of ours for quite some time now" - Jason McGill
However, the Minstermen must go before a transfer tribunal to decide a fee for the 23-year-old hit-man who has scored regularly for Barnet over the past couple of campaigns.

"You've got to try and get the best for your football club," McGill told The Press. "It's fantastic. Jake has been a target of ours for quite some time now - at least 12 months.

"While he was under contract with Barnet at the start of last season I did try and speak to the chairman and see if we could do a deal," he continued. "Unfortunately our valuations were miles apart and we had to leave it. With Jake out of contract now we felt it was time to move. I am delighted that we have got Jake here."
