Magnificent seven for Minstermen

York City have completed their seventh signing of the summer with midfielder Luke Summerfield arriving on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old Devonian made 31 appearances and scored once in League One for Shrewsbury Town last season until being released at the end of his contract.

He originally began his career at Plymouth Argyle and had loans with AFC Bournemouth and Leyton Orient before joining Cheltenham Town in August 2011.

Following six goals in 51 games at Whaddon Road, Summerfield then moved to Shrewsbury twelve months later and has since made 70 appearances while scoring four goals.

Manager Martin Gray was surprisingly upbeat despite York City relinquishing their hold on the FA Trophy in very disappointing fashion at Kidderminster Harriers.
