York City Ladies kick-off their North East Regional Premier League programme with a trip to Castleford White Rose on Sunday 6th September.

Castleford failed to win any of their eighteen league games last season while being defeated on thirteen occasions - and actually finished next to bottom in the table. However, York only triumphed 2-1 in the corresponding fixture in February, courtesy of leading goalscorer Alicia Smith's brace.

The Minsterbelled then host Whitley Bay seven days later before facing a couple of newcomers in Sheffield United Community (A) and Wetherby Athletic (H).

Following a trip to Birtley BYPC on the opening day, City travel to Durham Cestria and Gateshead Rutherford Ravens over successive weekends before hosting Prudhoe Town.

Prior to those games, the two York sides meet each other in a big League Cup clash on 30th August.

City Ladies open their pre-season programme with a visit from Middlesbrough's reserves later this evening (kick-off 7.00pm).

York City 1 Alfreton Town 1

York City produced another deeply uninspiring display while being held 1-1 by lowly part-timers Alfreton Town at Bootham Crescent.

That was despite midfielder Simon Heslop earning them an early fifth-minute lead that was cancelled out by former York defender Tom Allan before the break.

Manager Martin Gray earlier made a single-change from the woeful 4-1 defeat at Curzon Ashton, with goalscorer Alex Kempster given a full debut as replacement for the suspended Jon Parkin. Louis Almon
