York City drew 2-2 with League One visitors Scunthorpe United in their opening Bootham Crescent pre-season friendly on Wednesday evening.

The Minstermen went ahead after only six minutes when Amari Morgan-Smith headed back Daniel Parslow's cross from the right and home debutant Louis Almond finished at close-range.

Returning striker Michael Rankine then nodded a second early in the second-half following another huge throw-in from Sam 'The Weapon' Muggleton.

But former City midfielder Neal Bishop poked a reply with fifteen minutes remaining and Hakeeb Adelakun swiftly drilled in a low equaliser.
