City Futsal in top five

City Futsal in top five

York City Futsal find themselves in fifth position in the twelve-club National Super League following the latest set of fixtures.

The Minstermen had been due to host Cambridge United at the weekend, but the contest was postponed due to the Yorkshire Marathon taking place on the same day.

In their absence, Reading Escolla strengthened their place at the top of the table with an 8-3 victory at London City.

They currently lead the rest on goal-difference from London Helvecia, who were 10-4 winners at Oxford City Lions, and FC Salisbury United following their surprise narrow 8-7 triumph at Birmingham.

For the remaining games, Manchester defeated Loughborough 5-2 and Tranmere Rovers shared a 2-2 draw with Genesis.

Newcomers York, who already won their opening fixture 3-1 at Loughborough, are back in action when visiting Manchester this weekend in a 2.30pm kick-off at the National Cycling Centre.

Weekend Results: Birmingham 7-8 FC Salisbury; London City 3-8 Reading Escolla; Manchester 5-2 Loughborough; Oxford City 4-10 London Helvecia; Tranmere 2-2 Genesis; York City P-P Cambridge
