Video: High hopes for young keepers
York City goalkeeping coach Andy Collett retains high hopes for a couple of promising young net-minders already at Bootham Crescent.
Seventeen-year-old Ryan Whitley has already been rewarded with a two-year professional contract after impressing at youth-team level, although he continues to be pushed by fellow young hopeful Joe Wilton.
"We've given Ryan a professional contract," Collett told York's official YouTube channel. "He's big and tall and needs lots of coaching. And Joe who is working with him as well. They both compete really well against each other.
"They're two great young lads to work with," he continued. "It's a big part of my job obviously working with the Academy and the scholars. Because they are the guys who really do need the coaching at a young age. Those two are great to work with and they are both improving."
