Video: Individual errors cost us - Gray
Martin Gray was again left reflecting on an inability to defend set-pieces after suffering a first defeat in charge of York City.
The Minstermen were three goals down inside an hour at title favourites Salford City, until a couple of very late replies from substitutes Louis Almond and Aidan Connolly brought them a modest degree of consolation.
"Not good enough from set-plays. We've conceded five goals in the last two games all from set-plays," Gray told BBC Radio York. "What really frustrates you is that we've worked so hard on the training ground and we've got so much information regarding opposition.
"But individually, whether it's the first header or the second balls coming into the box, we've got to do better," he continued. "There was no real great threat from them; two chances and two goals in the first-half.
"It's individual errors - five goals in two games we've conceded through not doing the job right. It's really disappointing because you get yourself back in the game - we hit the woodwork three times today away from home - but you've got to defend better than that.
"You've got to look at what we need to improve on. I know it's early days, we're just into the club and three weeks in. We've had a win, draw and defeat and for me it should have been two wins and a draw. We didn't deserve to lose today but you can't give teams a three-goal start.
"We've got to get back into a winning mentality. We can't win, lose and draw to push for a championship. You've got to have consistency and that means in both boxes we've got to be more consistent.
"Yes they should have scored a fourth goal - the kid misses a sitter. But we were brave and the subs that came on made a great impact. Two fantastic goals and we hit the woodwork and then we had one cleared off the line.
"The one thing I can guarantee with my teams is we never do [collapse]. I won't accept that and you'll always get that from a York City team while I'm the manager. You'll get everything right to the 90th minute. But we've got to have great focus and concentration levels from the first minute as well."
