Newcomer set for first start

Weekend goalscorer Daniel Rowe is set to feature for York City's reserves in their opening game of the season against Port Vale at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday afternoon (kick-off 1.00pm).

The 22-year-old former Wycombe Wanderers centre-back netted on his debut after coming on as a substitute during the 3-2 home defeat to Tamworth.

Others likely to be involved in the Central League North fixture are goalkeeper Jon Worsnop, defender Jassem Sukar, midfielder Theo Wharton and striker Amari Morgan-Smith.

Those were expected to be joined by leading youngsters Josh Rogerson, Ryan Edmondson and Aaron Haswell.

Youth-team manager Steve Torpey will oversee proceedings, with first-team boss Martin Gray taking in the action from the stands.

Admission to the game is FREE and turnstiles open from 12.30pm.
