Video: York were decent - Flanagan

Curzon Ashton boss John Flanagan admitted his side were probably fortunate to still be in the game at the break against York City at Bootham Crescent.

Goals from leading marksman Jon Parkin and long-serving centre-back Daniel Parslow had the hosts in firm control after forty-five minutes, until midfielder Joe Guest found the top corner for their opponents early in the second-half.

"First-half they dominated and had a number of chances," Flanagan told Curzon Live. "Cameron [Mason] was kept busy and pulled off some good saves to be fair to him.

"But we conceded two and were fortunate probably to go in at 2-0 if I'm quite honest about it. They were busy and I don't think we were matching them, and we couldn't retain the ball - or we didn't retain the ball.

"Second-half was completely different," he continued. "We had a lot more possession. Personally I think it was more a case of them taking their foot off the gas a little bit, stepping off and not getting close to us and allowing us to play a bit more.

"Subsequently we had a lot more possession in slightly higher areas. But we didn't create a great deal and the goalkeeper wasn't troubled.

"I thought they [York] were alright and decent. I thought they were solid rather than spectacular."
