Reserves back in action

Reserves back in action

York City's reserves are back in action when hosting Mansfield Town at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday afternoon (kick-off 1.00pm).

The Minstermen lost their opening fixture 3-1 to Port Vale last week despite an equaliser from Amari Morgan-Smith. That was while including a couple of trialists, one of those being former City midfielder Tyler Walton.

Meanwhile, the Stags have similarly played just a single Central League game - a 1-0 defeat to Rotherham United back in September.

However, they've since triumphed in a couple of Central League Cup ties against a young Burton Albion side (4-0) and Grimsby Town (2-0). Former York defender Mal Benning was on target in the first of those games.

Mansfield boss Steve Evans was again likely to select those players not recently appearing in his first-team.

Admission is free.

Good game and decent teams - Penney

York City assistant manager Dave Penney believes it was a case of a couple of well-matched teams following the 2-2 draw with Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent.

Both sides were denied a sixth consecutive victory as York City twice led against promotion rivals Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent.

On loan defender Jonny Burn's third goal in nine games earned them a half-time lead that was cancelled out by Ryan Hall soon after the restart.

But Aidan Connolly restored the home advantage with seventeen minutes remaining, although that was swiftly matched by Andrew Johnson as the honours were eventually shared.
