Video: Defender targets winning return

York City defender Josh Law is preparing for a playing return to former club Alfreton Town this weekend.

The 28-year-old right-back previously completed over 300 senior appearances during seven seasons with the Derbyshire club, until joining Scottish Premiership outfit Motherwell in May 2014.

His father Nicky also spent a decade there as manager before taking a national recruiting role at Premier League Burnley earlier this year.

"I was there quite a while, I think it was six or seven seasons," Law told BBC Radio York. "I had a really good time down there and have got some good memories of the place.

"My old man was the manager and part of the reason that I went there at the time," he continued. "It ended up longer than I probably thought it was going to, but I loved every minute there."

The Minstermen are currently sixth in the table but already sixteen points behind new National League North leaders Salford City with the midway point of the campaign rapidly approaching.

"Every game we have is a must win really because that's what we're aiming for," Law added. "You look at the table now and you can't really have anymore slip-ups if you want to and win it. So we have to go there at the weekend and get three points."
