Video: This can't continue - Gray

Manager Martin Gray admits performances such as that witnessed against Boston United today simply cannot be allowed to continue at York City.

The Minstermen slipped to a first defeat in five games as their struggling opponents came from behind for a 2-1 victory at York Street.

Midfielder Adriano Moke's first goal since returning to the club more than a year ago actually had the visitors ahead at the interval.

But York once again fell into complete disarray after the break with Jordan Keane and Ashley Hemmings' penalty eventually turning them over.

The result has them now dropping outside the play-offs and already a massive twenty-one points behind clear leaders Salford City with half of the season almost completed.

"I've been here two months now and that's the most frustrating I've felt," Gray told BBC Radio York. "From being 1-0 in front and quite in control of the game; I didn't really feel like we were going to concede. Again the manner we conceded both goals is a concern.

"We didn't do enough in both boxes and it's easy to dig out defenders or mistakes made. But equally the game could have quite easily been 3-0 at half-time. The chances we're not converting we've just got to take them and it puts a different spin on the game.

"I'd like to see it again but it potentially is a penalty," he commented regarding the winning goal. "How the play happened from this bottom corner to end up in the top corner was the biggest concern. The way they've counter-attacked when it is 1-1. It was a too-open game.

"Very undisciplined and it's cost us massively. We've got enough experience within this group of players, who have played at this level and certainly higher, to make sure we have a better discipline out of possession.

"I think players have got to start putting in performances and what they do on the training ground into games," Gray insisted. "It's all good and well on the training ground where there is no pressure and it's a different environment.

"Because come today they haven't got that same belief or bravery on the ball and that's a real concern. No disrespect but we should come here and dominate the ball better than what we do.

"The players do care and they are hurting. They have got pride and are professional people. But they have got to respond because we can't have anymore performances like this.

"This is the second time I've seen this happen within eight games and this can't continue," he warned. "It's got to change and it's got to change now."
