Further update on stadium details

Following news of work finally commencing on York's new Community Stadium this week, with a scheduled opening of summer 2019, a further update has been provided for supporters:

"Once complete the Community Stadium Leisure Complex will comprise of an 8,000 all-seat community sports stadium, new swimming pool, gym, dance studio, sports hall, indoor & outdoor climbing facilities," writes a representative for York Community Stadium. "On top of this, NHS outpatient services will be offered from a Community Hub alongside a new Explore library & York Against Cancer retail unit. Further commercial development on the site will also feature an IMAX cinema, 5 restaurants and up to 3 retail units.

"The Stadium itself it will be a traditional 4 sided stadium, each stand having under croft concourse areas with toilets, food & beverage outlets. The seats will be in 3 colors of red, blue & white, similar to the attached picture. Stand capacities being; East = 3488, South = 1707, West = 2040, North = 878. Total = 8113.

"Details of the planning approved scheme can be found on the Council planning portal website by searching under ref 16/00484/FULM. However, there is a lot of documents and information up there, so if you simply have any general queries around the scheme please place them on here and we will try our best to respond to all with as much information as we can."
