Video: Gray remains defiant
Defiant manager Martin Gray has issued a further rallying call after back-to-back away defeats for York City.
The Minstermen followed up their recent inauspicious 2-1 loss to struggling Boston United by then going out of the FA Trophy by the same scoreline at Kidderminster Harriers.
This weekend they play host to fellow play-off hopefuls Blyth Spartans, whom they already accounted for by a 2-0 scoreline earlier in the season.
"We've got to put in a great performance," Gray told BBC Radio York. "It's no good talking here and making sure that we say the right things. I've never been a manager to say that.
"It's time to deliver and we've got to give the fans and the chairman and the people at the club something to smile about," he continued. "We've got to start and put a run of games together. Draws are no good, we've got to start winning games and that's what we need to do.
"It's got to happen this Saturday. We've been here long enough now and I've never been one to hide behind anything. We've got to start and deliver, it's as simple as that.
"We've got good enough players to start putting better performances over ninety minutes. We've got to start and do that, there's no question about it."
Meanwhile, Gray concedes that he would already have reasonably expected an upturn in performances, but only after various off-the-field issues had been fully addressed.
"There's been a lot of changes off the pitch that people won't understand," he added. "There's been a lot of, in my opinion, indiscipline around the club. And until you get the discipline right of what you want and how you want to work, then the rest takes a bit longer.
"I've had to do that and the job is bigger than we thought it was when we've come in," Gray revealed. "And we've had to move a lot of players out and look at how we're going to restructure and try to improve it.
"We've done a lot of work behind the scenes. And whether you like it or not, if you don't get those things right it doesn't happen on the pitch. And I think we're getting things right off the pitch now and the players have all bought into it."
