Video: Everybody's hurt - Bartlett

Goalkeeper Adam Bartlett admits everybody is hurting at the club but expects to witness a "different York City" across the vital Christmas period.

The Minstermen host fellow play-off hopefuls Blyth Spartans this weekend ahead of a seasonal double-header with bottom-of-the-table North Ferriby United.

"I'm hoping that everything is going to come together on the pitch over this Christmas period," Bartlett told BBC Radio York. "I think that you're going to see a different York City over the coming weeks."

The 31-year-old former England 'C' international is still awaiting his first clean-sheet since arriving from National League North rivals Darlington early last month.

"Obviously things haven't gone well at the club over the past two seasons," he continued. "Everybody within the dressing room, we can completely understand why everybody is frustrated.

"We're a full-time club and not sat anywhere near, at this moment in time, where we should be in the league. It's as simple as that and it's only down to us as players, and obviously management staff as well; kind of everybody coming together and trying to put a smile back on the fans' faces, and trying to give them something to cheer about on a Saturday.

"Everybody's hurt by it; we're disappointed by it. It's not that we just go home and [think]: 'It's a job, that's it!' I think about everything pretty much every minute of every day. You can't get football out of your mind, and I know all the rest of the lads will probably be the same."
