Video: I don't feel any pressure - Parkin

Hat-trick hero Jon Parkin says he feels absolutely no pressure to keep on scoring goals for York City as they bid to climb the table.

The 35-year-old marksman spectacularly crashed through the twenty-goal mark for the season with his first-ever City treble during their 4-1 romp at bottom-of-the-table North Ferriby United on Boxing Day.

That brought him a new post-War club record of 36 goals in a calendar year, in the process eclipsing Richard Brodie's previous best of 35 from 2009 - although the big front-man insists it's really all about his team getting results.

"I've said it before, it's not about how many goals I score. I'm at the back end of my career," Parkin told BBC Radio York. "It's about this club getting three points every Saturday and hopefully my goals can help towards that.

"To be fair I think all three were good finishes to be honest," he reflected. "The third one was nice, I've had a touch and managed to swivel on the volley.

"I've been doing it a long time now, I think I might know what I'm doing. It's all about getting a good contact [on the first goal], really. Because there's not a lot of time for the keeper to react and if you get a good contact there's half a chance of going in."

Despite already being responsible for approaching half of City's forty-eight goals so far this season, Parkin insists there is no added pressure on him to keep finding the net.

"No, there's no pressure at all," he added. "I've been doing this a long time. Football's not pressure, for me anyway. It's my job and I try do that to the best of my ability."
