Former striker rejoins rivals

Former York City loan striker Rhys Turner has returned on loan to National League North rivals Stockport County until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old was previously with the Hatters four years ago, scoring six goals in 21 appearances before joining Oldham Athletic for £30,000 in January 2014.

Preston-born Turner, who netted once in ten games for the Minstermen during their fateful 2015-16 Football League campaign, also had a loan stay at Macclesfield Town and is currently with League Two outfit Morecambe.

He's expected to make a second 'debut' at home to leaders Salford City this weekend, and could also be facing York later this month.

Both sides were denied a sixth consecutive victory as York City twice led against promotion rivals Spennymoor Town at Bootham Crescent.

On loan defender Jonny Burn's third goal in nine games earned them a half-time lead that was cancelled out by Ryan Hall soon after the restart.

But Aidan Connolly restored the home advantage with seventeen minutes remaining, although that was swiftly matched by Andrew Johnson as the honours were eventually shared.
